‘Shining a light on the best practice for children with SEND’

Hosted by the Children and Adults with Disabilities 0-5 Support Team of the London Borough of Havering Council, this Conference is open to all those working in the provision of SEND education within Early Years settings across the country. 

It will provide delegates with an unmissable and interactive day of professional learning and we are pleased to be welcoming the following as keynote speakers and workshop providers :

  • Julie Revels – SEND Consultant , NASEN Associate and regular speaker at the national Nursery World and TES Conferences
  • Angharad Welch – Founder of  ‘Find the Key Speech and Language Therapy’ 
  • Bernadett Rankasz – Head of Early Years at Beyond Autism
  • Abi Johnson & Natasha Blood – Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Advanced Practitioner at Occupational Therapy Essex

The Conference will be held in a virtual environment with all speakers providing live sessions. Recordings will also be available on the platform until 11th May providing delegates with an excellent opportunity to view sessions at an alternative time.

-Julie Revels

Julie is a regular speaker at the Nursery World and TES shows and is involved in national projects promoting access and inclusion for children with SEND in the early years. She is an associate with nasen and has been involved in a number of projects including the Resilience Development project. Julie’s background is rooted in understanding and meeting the needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities, (SEND) with a specific focus on social, emotional and mental health. Julie is highly regarded and has a long established reputation in the SEND sector.
Abi Johnson

Abi Johnson

Abi qualified as an Occupational Therapist from Brunel University in 1999. She worked in a variety of NHS posts including mental health and children’s services before establishing Occupational Therapy Essex in 2011. Abi has particular interests in hypermobility, anxiety management and handwriting difficulties. Outside of work, Abi enjoys spending time with her teenage sons, buying sparkly shoes and volunteering with her local breastfeeding support service; she is studying to become a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. Occupational Therapy Essex is an independent occupational therapy practice providing assessment and intervention services to schools, local authorities, and families. We work with children of all ages with a range of difficulties and diagnoses including DCD/Dyspraxia, Autism, handwriting challenges, anxiety, and sensory processing difficulties. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge through training for parents and professionals and regularly provide training through schools.
Angharad Welch

Angharad Welch

Angharad lives in Herefordshire and runs 'Find the Key Speech and Language Therapy', working in schools and with families supporting a wide range of SLCN. Her background is in working with children with complex communication and feeding needs and she has had significant experience in intervention in the preschool and Early Years period.
Bernadett Rankasz

Bernadett Rankasz

Since graduating as a Teacher of Health Sciences, Bernadett has been passionate about teaching children with special needs. She gained significant experience teaching in a wide range of educational settings, including mainstream primary and secondary schools, special schools and ASD units, becoming an outstanding teacher across all year groups. Most recently, she has been a Head of Primary Phase in a free special school for children with autism in south west London, moving a brand-new school forward from the very first day. Bernadett firmly believes that every child holds an innate potential to rise above their circumstances and succeed beyond expectation in life with the presence of empathy, equal opportunity and a supportive and competent multidisciplinary team. As Head of Outreach, working with professionals in many mainstream and special schools, Bernadett now feels privileged to have the opportunity to witness even more children and young people with autism pursue growth and happiness in their educational setting and throughout life.
Natasha Blood

Natasha Blood

Natasha studied Occupational Therapy at the University of East Anglia, graduating in 2013. She has experience working in NHS children’s services and at a local special school for children with communication difficulties. Natasha is a Sensory Integration Advanced Practitioner and has completed the foundation modules of the Sensory Attachment Intervention pathway. Natasha offers insight and experience about how sensory processing difficulties affect children in the classroom. In her spare time Natasha enjoys dancing and developing an SEN cheerleading group. Occupational Therapy Essex is an independent occupational therapy practice providing assessment and intervention services to schools, local authorities, and families. We work with children of all ages with a range of difficulties and diagnoses including DCD/Dyspraxia, Autism, handwriting challenges, anxiety, and sensory processing difficulties.
