The London Borough of Havering 2023 annual two-day Havering Headteachers’ Conference is again being held at the Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel near Colchester. The Conference includes a varied and comprehensive Programme with eminent keynote speakers and an education suppliers exhibition on the first day of the Conference.

The event opens at 8.15am on Thursday 23rd February and closes after lunch on Friday 24th February. Delegates still wishing to attend should please contact us for availability.

Day 1 - Hannah Wilson

Hannah is a leadership development consultant, coach and trainer. She is the Co-Founder of #WomenEd and the Co-Founder of #DiverseEd. Hannah is passionate about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; Professional Learning; Mentoring and Coaching. Her former roles in education include: Head of Secondary Teacher Training; Founding Executive Headteacher; Strategic Lead for a Teaching School Alliance; Professional Learning Lead for a large MAT; DfE Diversity grant holder and Vice-Chair of a Trust Board. Day 1 - Mary Myatt

Day 1 - Mary Myatt

Mary is an education adviser, writer and speaker. She trained as an RE teacher and is a former local authority adviser and inspector. She engages with pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. Mary has written extensively about leadership, school improvement and the curriculum: most recently ‘Huh: Curriculum conversations between subject and senior leaders’ and ‘Primary Huh: Curriculum conversations with primary subject leaders’ with John Tomsett. She has also established Myatt & Co, an online platform with films for teachers, including teaching assistants and leaders including governors. Mary has been a governor in three schools, and a trustee for a Multi Academy Trust. She cofounded the RE Quality Mark, is chair of the board for the Centre for Education and Youth and a member of the curriculum advisory group for Oak National Academy. Day 1 - Penny Mallory

Penny Mallory made her childhood dream come true when, against all the odds, she became the first woman in the world to compete in a World Rally Car for Ford in the World Rally Championship. She remains the only woman to have achieved this. Penny was a teenage runaway and spent 3 years homeless in London. She attributes her success to having learned how to build and harness mental toughness. Penny now teaches her Mental Toughness formula to help people develop confidence, resilience, commitment, determination and focus so that they can build powerful, successful teams and organisations.

Day 1 - Professor Dame Alison Peacock

Professor Dame Alison Peacock is the CEO of the Chartered College of Teaching. Prior to becoming CEO, Dame Alison was Executive Headteacher of The Wroxham School in Hertfordshire. Her career to date has spanned primary, secondary and advisory roles. In 2018, she became an Honorary Fellow of Queen's College, Cambridge, one of the first ever female Fellows admitted. She is also a Visiting Professor of both the University of Hertfordshire and Glyndwr University.
Day 2 - Caroline Dulon

Day 2 - Caroline Dulon

Caroline took up her post as Regional Director, London on 1 June 2022. Before that, Caroline was a senior HMI and Assistant Regional Director in the South West of England. Caroline joined Ofsted as one of His Majesty’s Inspectors in 2015. Before that she was headteacher of a large primary school, held several leadership roles in a range of schools and facilitated programmes to develop leaders. Ofsted’s Regional Directors are responsible for Ofsted’s performance in a particular region. Each Regional Director leads a team of inspectors to support improvement through inspection.
Day 2 - Craig Lilleyman

Day 2 - Craig Lilleyman

Craig is the Director of the London District East Teaching School Hub, which is part of the Boleyn Trust. The Hub is designated by the DfE as one of the 87 Teaching School Hubs nationally - working across all schools in Havering, Barking & Dagenham and Newham, as well as beyond. Craig leads on the delivery of the Ambition Early Career Teacher Programme and reformed National Professional Qualifications (NPQs). Craig is a former Boleyn Trust Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher and he is also a member of the Havering Academy of Leadership Board.
Day 2 - Kriss Akabusi

Day 2 - Kriss Akabusi

Kriss became famous for his extraordinary achievements on the athletics track, where his greatest individual triumph was winning the gold medal in the 1990 European Championships. This was when he beat David Hemery’s British record for the 400 metre hurdles – a record that stood for 22 years before Kriss‘s triumph. Kriss began his international athletics career in 1983 as a member of the 4x400 metre relay squad and he helped Britain clinch the gold from the mighty Americans at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo. Kriss is now a businessman, commentator, TV personality and motivational speaker, who is in great demand in this country and abroad.
Day 2 - Robin Launder

Day 2 - Robin Launder

Robin Launder is a former prison officer, secondary school teacher and School Improvement Partner for both primary and secondary schools. He now works as a consultant and conference speaker and he is the founder of Behaviour Buddy. Robin is an expert in behaviour management, neuroscience in the classroom and evidence-based teaching. He is a motivating, humorous and fast-paced speaker and his presentations take forward his life-long work of helping people be the best they can be.
