Andrew Caffrey

Andrew is the CEO at Canopy, a team of educational technologists who help schools to use digital technology to enhance teaching and learning. He is the Global Program Lead for the Google for Education Certified Innovator Program, a global community of more than 2,000 passionate teachers who use technology to solve big challenges and advocate for impactful use of technology in education. He is a former Secondary School Assistant Headteacher, Geography Teacher, Duke of Edinburgh Lead and Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) and received an Inspirational Educator Award from the Worshipful Company of Educators in 2016. In 2020, he was named in the EdTech 50 as one of the key people shaping Education Technology in the UK. In his spare time, he is the Volunteer Head of Compliance at The Scout Association.

Dr Andy Cope

Andy is a qualified teacher, wellbeing expert and ‘recovering academic’. His Loughborough University PhD was 12 years in the making and he revels in the irony that his thesis on human flourishing actually ended up making him miserable. The reward for grinding out his PhD is that Andy gets to call himself a ‘Doctor of Happiness’. Don’t worry, he’s socially aware enough to understand that it’s a terribly cheesy title, but a notch above the socially unacceptable alternative, ‘Doctor Feelgood’. In a nutshell, Andy is exactly the opposite of all the other doctors you’ve ever encountered. While they’ve been trained to work out what’s wrong with you, Andy is focused on the total opposite; what’s right with you, what makes you come alive and how can you be at your best more often. Andy’s books are frequently on the best-sellers list. ‘The Art of Being Brilliant’, ‘Shine’, ‘The Little Book of Emotional Intelligence’ and ‘Zest’ have all topped the personal development charts. ‘Happiness Route Map’ was nominated as The Independent’s best self-help book of the year. He’s not done yet; 2020 sees the publication of ‘How to be a Well Being’ and ‘A Girl’s Guide to Being Fearless’. In a bizarre leap of quantum reality, Andy is also a best-selling children’s author. His ‘Spy Dog’ series has sold in excess of a million copies worldwide. He’s not quite sure how that happened, but he promises it’s true. He is able to console himself in the knowledge that you might not have heard of him but your children and grandchildren surely have.

Roy Leighton

Roy is a professional actor, director, author, educator, University lecturer, international speaker and advisor to businesses, schools and communities on creativity, learning and the management of change. He is a senior associate at Independent Thinking Ltd and the founding director of Undiscovered Country, a theatre and performing arts company that provides workshops, training days and sustained programmes for learning organisations of every kind. He began his training as a classical actor at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1979 and then as a physical theatre performer with the Suzuki Company of Toga in Japan before studying positive psychology. He is currently a fulltime student at Cambridge University completing a Masters in Philosophy ‘Knowledge, Power and Politics’. His thesis explores the issue of violence and conflict in schools and communities and how the power of the arts can be used to create the conditions for peacemaking, peacebuilding and peacekeeping. In 1991 he was awarded The Min-on Art Award from the Min-on Concert Organisation in Japan for his contribution to peace and education. He is the author of eight books and was a finalist for the People's Book Prize in 2011 for ‘101 Days to Make a Change’.

Tricia Murphy

Tricia has spent over 45 years in Education and was the former Headteacher of The Special Educational Needs Support Service in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. In 2006 she has published “Beyond Inclusion” with Dr Rona Tutt She has been both President of the National Association for Remedial Education and the National President for the National Association of Special Educational Needs (NASEN) in 2002 and 2003. It was however with her work with Behaviour pupils she was awarded: “Woman of Achievement in the Public Sector” in 2003. Recently she has herself semi- retired, married, opened a special vintage tea business and become a Trainer for Head-teachers, Teaching staff and Teaching Assistants on many aspects concerning education particularly Pupil Premium and Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. She was part of the nasen delegation to Hong Kong in July 2006 and lectured at the first TATA learning Disabilities Conference in Mumbai in November 2006 and part of nasen delegations to Mumbai and Kolkuta . She has lectured at the BESA/GESS shows in Dubai and at BESA/ASIA in Kuala Lumpur. She is a regular trainer for Osiris Education, Chris Pickup Associates and Babcock International and works with many schools on Pupil Premium. As President of nasen she helped establish TES SEN London and has lectured there every October for all of the 25 years. She has been described as “warm and witty with an earthy sense of realism about the world of education”.
